The Atila AmpFire Monkeypox Detection Kit is designed for rapid qualitative detection of monkeypox virus DNA from dry or wet swab from lesion, skin or curst from the roof of the vesicle, or fresh biopsy. The assay can detect monkeypox virus specifically  from other Orthopoxviruses and is able to detect both the West African and Central African clades of the virus.

The kit provides reaction mix which contains reagents and enzymes for PCR amplification; and a primer mix which are specific to the monkeypox viral genome. In addition, the kit provides an internal control to identify possible PCR inhibition or sample preparation failure.
