Corning® 100 mg Puromycin Dihydrochloride, Powder

Puromycin dihydrochloride is isolated from Streptomyces alboniger as a broad-spectrum aminonucleoside antibiotic. Puromycin dihydrochloride is active against Gram-positive bacteria and weakly active against Gram-negative bacteria. The mechanism of action involves premature release of nascent polypeptide chains by the addition of puromycin dihydrochloride to the growing peptide chain. Protein synthesis is inhibited in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells that do not express the puromycin-N-acetyl-transferase (pac) gene encoding resistance.
